$325,000.00 – Female Hotel Worker v. Hotel Owner Operators #1 and #2 [Sexual Harassment]

Case:

Jane Doe v. Hotel Owner Operators #1 and #2

Court:

Superior Court of California, San Diego (Case No. 37-2023-00044774-CU-OE-CTL)

Date:

June 17, 2024

Facts and Allegations:

During her employment for a hotel, the plaintiff was sexually assaulted and harassed by her coworker, Geremy Williams (“Williams”) , and also harassed by her supervisor, Michael Economy (“Economy”). Plaintiff worked with bartender Williams, who repeatedly and violently sexually assaulted Plaintiff in front of her manager, Economy, and other employees. Williams sexual assaults on plaintiff at the hotel included forcibly grabbing her from behind without warning and throwing her to the ground and then dry-humping her on the floor as she screamed for him to get off of her. Each time Plaintiff reported it to her manager, Economy, he brushed off her complaints and repeatedly refused to discipline Williams for any harassment. For his part, Economy also made light of sexual harassment and himself engaged in sexually offensive comments to and about his female subordinates.

During the period of time when Plaintiff was sexually harassed, the hotel was sold from one owner/manager to another; thus, plaintiff’s complaint was against two separate corporate defendants.
